What our learners say
Intensive Course Checklist ✅
Provisional licence
To start your intensive course, you must have a valid, UK provisional licence as this is the minimum legal requirement to start your driving lessons. The licence is green and will look like the below:

If you haven’t got yours yet, you can apply for your provisional licence from the DVSA for a cost of £34 if you apply online or £43 if you apply by post.
Passed Theory Test
While it is not essential that you have passed your theory test before you start your course, we are unable to book you a fast-track driving test (if you are wanting us to book the test for you) until you have passed as we require the theory test certificate number to book the driving test.
Passing your theory test before the course is a the best option. To book your theory test, you can do so on the DVSA website at a cost of £23.
Safety Checks
Eyesight Check
You’ll need to be able to read a car number plate from 20 metres away. Glasses or contact lenses are fine if you need them.Right Footwear
Wear comfortable, flat shoes (avoid heels or chunky boots) so you can feel the pedals properly.
How It Works 🧐
Make your booking
Secure your place by completing the booking form and paying the deposit.
Confirm your details
A member of our team will contact you to confirm your enquiry and make sure we have all the correct information before matching you with an instructor.
We find your instructor
Based on your requirements, we will search for a self-employed DVSA-approved instructor in your area. Once found, we’ll share their details and formally connect you.
Arrange your lessons
After being introduced, your instructor will contact you directly to arrange your course dates and times.
Pay your instructor the balance
Once your course dates are agreed, the remaining balance must be paid directly to your instructor before lessons begin.
Practical Test Day
2 hours from your course will be set aside for the day of the practical test. As an example:
- You have purchased a 30 hour course
- You will have 28 hours of focused driving lessons
- 2 hours (making the 30 hours total) will be used for the car hire for the test
It doesn’t matter which package is chosen, 2 hours will always be set aside for the test day.
Fast-Track Driving Test ⚡
The basics
If you don’t already have a driving test booked and would like us to arrange one, please contact our team via live chat, WhatsApp, or call us on 0330 043 9896.
We will ask you to provide up to 3 test centres where you are willing to take your test. Because the DVSA currently has a 24-week waiting list, choosing multiple centres gives us a much better chance of finding you an earlier date.
How it works & payment
💡 Rated Driving works with a trusted third-party provider to secure fast-track tests. The total cost is £195, which is broken down as:
£62 DVSA test fee (paid to the DVSA)
£133 third-party finder’s fee
👉 No payment is required upfront. You will only be charged once we have secured a fast-track test date and you have confirmed that you are happy to proceed with it.
We want to be clear — Rated Driving does not profit from driving tests.
Rated Driving acts solely as a booking agent, arranging driving lessons with independent, self-employed DVSA-approved instructors, and does not itself provide driving tuition.
