Tilbury is the closest practical centre to Stanford-le-Hope, around four and a half miles south-west. Test routes typically cover residential roads and sections of the A1089, making it the natural first choice for most local learners. Basildon sits roughly six miles north-east and posts a pass rate just above the national average, so it works well as a second option when Tilbury slots are tight.
Brentwood is around eight and a half miles north-west, running at a similar pass rate to Basildon. Routes there tend to include busier junctions and sections of the A127, so it makes sense to match the test centre to the roads you've spent most time practising on during lessons.
Chatham is the nearest theory centre to Stanford-le-Hope, roughly ten miles south-east across the Thames. Southend sits around thirteen miles east and tends to have more slots available. Sidcup is the third option at roughly fifteen miles south-west, on the south London side, and only really worth considering if both Chatham and Southend are fully booked.
