The Doncaster test centre sits around two miles north-east of the town centre and handles the bulk of practical tests for local learners. Routes tend to cover a mix of residential estates, dual carriageways heading out towards the A1(M) corridor, and some quieter country lanes on the edges of town. Pass rates here run below the national average, so most instructors spend extra time drilling manoeuvres and junction work in the weeks before test day.
Rotherham is the second-closest option at roughly eleven miles south-west, posting a noticeably higher pass rate and often worth the drive when Doncaster slots are limited. Pontefract sits around thirteen miles north-west with a mid-range pass rate, making it a useful third choice if the other two centres are fully booked for weeks ahead.
Doncaster's theory centre sits very close to the town centre, making it the obvious first choice for local learners. Worksop is around fifteen miles south and Sheffield roughly seventeen miles south-west, both straightforward to reach but only necessary when Doncaster's calendar is packed.
Intensive course bookings fill quickly through spring and summer. Secure your place with a £250 deposit, balance payable before your start date.
