Intensive isn’t the right fit for everyone. Here’s how to know whether it suits where you are right now.
Living in Anfield means navigating a mix of residential streets and major arterial routes on a daily basis. Whether you're heading towards the city centre, commuting, or joining the flow of traffic, having your driving licence opens up opportunities for work, leisure and independence that public transport alone cannot provide. For residents here, driving is essential for reaching retail parks, accessing employment across Liverpool and beyond, and managing family commitments without being tied to bus timetables.
An intensive driving course with Rated Driving prepares you for all the challenges Anfield roads present, from handling residential side streets with parked cars to merging confidently onto faster routes. The key benefit of intensive learning is that you can pass your test in days or weeks rather than months, with concentrated sessions that cover roundabouts, traffic lights, dual carriageways and urban junctions all in quick succession. Your instructor will ensure you practise manoeuvres in real locations you'll encounter during your test, building the skills and confidence needed to drive independently across Liverpool.
Anfield is known worldwide as the home of Anfield stadium, where Liverpool Football Club has played since 1892, and the area carries a strong sense of community and local pride. Nearby Stanley Park provides green space between Anfield and Goodison Park, while the Anfield Cemetery is a notable historical landmark. Learning to drive here means becoming familiar with match day traffic patterns, residential parking challenges and the rhythm of a well-established Liverpool neighbourhood.
Your practical driving test will take place at the Norris Green test centre, and your Rated Driving instructor will prepare you thoroughly on the actual test routes used by examiners. You'll practise the exact roads, junctions and roundabouts that feature in local tests, ensuring nothing comes as a surprise on the day. Passing to the DVSA standard means demonstrating safe, controlled driving across all conditions, and intensive courses give you the focused preparation needed to reach that level quickly and efficiently.

Norris Green is the closest practical centre to Anfield, around one and a half miles north-east. Routes typically cover residential streets and busier sections around north Liverpool, so most lesson plans build in plenty of time on those roads before test day. Wallasey sits roughly three miles west across the Mersey, running at a similar pass rate and offering a second option when Norris Green availability is tight.
Upton is the third nearest at around seven miles south-west, down towards the Wirral. Pass rates there run close to the national average, making it a sensible backup if both Norris Green and Wallasey are fully booked or if you prefer routes around the Wirral side rather than north Liverpool.
Liverpool is the closest theory centre to Anfield, around two miles south-west in the city centre and easy to reach by bus or on foot. Chester sits roughly seventeen miles south and Rhyl around twenty-three miles west, both only worth considering if Liverpool slots are unavailable.
Intensive course bookings fill quickly through spring and summer. Secure your place with a £250 deposit, balance payable before your start date.
