I moved to a new city in August and was 3 months into looking for an instructor! I was almost giving up at hat point thinking it’s not meant to be… until I read about rated driving app and downloaded it! A day and assigned me a brilliant driving instructor in my city, who I have already booked my test with and enjoy doing lessons! Definitely recommend!

This App is so much better than ringing instructors up and constantly being in their case. They take all the hassle and find you someone who can work with your availability. Definitely recommend 👌 and the in app payment is lot better as you can book lessons as and when you want to with your instructor.

Guide to driving lessons in Pinner

Booking driving lessons in Pinner

  • Choose a qualified driving instructor: It is important to choose a reputable instructor who is fully qualified and registered with the Driver and Vehicle Standards Agency (DVSA). You can find a list of approved driving instructors (ADIs) in the Pinner area on the DVSA website.

  • Decide on the type of lessons that best fit your needs: There are several options for driving lessons in Pinner, including hourly lessons, intensive courses, and pass-plus training. Consider your schedule and budget when deciding on the type of lessons that will work best for you.

  • Choose a suitable vehicle: Most driving instructors in Pinner will provide a car for your lessons, but you may have the option to use your own vehicle if it meets the required standards. Discuss your options with your instructor and choose a car that you feel comfortable driving.

  • Prepare for your lessons: Before starting your driving lessons, it is a good idea to familiarize yourself with the Highway Code and practice some basic driving skills, such as steering, braking, and shifting gears. This will help you to get the most out of your lessons and make progress more quickly.

  • Take your lessons at a pace that is comfortable for you: Everyone learns at a different pace, so it is important to take your lessons at a pace that is comfortable for you. Don’t be afraid to speak up if you feel that you need more time to practice a particular skill or if you are feeling overwhelmed. Your instructor is there to support you and help you to progress at a pace that is right for you.

  • Practice between lessons: In addition to taking driving lessons, it is a good idea to practice your driving skills on your own or with a qualified supervisor. This can help you to consolidate your learning and build confidence on the road.

  • Prepare for your practical driving test: As you approach the end of your driving lessons, it is important to start preparing for your practical driving test. This may involve taking additional lessons or practicing specific skills to ensure that you are fully prepared. Your instructor can help you to identify any areas that you need to work on and provide guidance on how to best prepare for the test.

  • Stay relaxed and calm while driving: It is natural to feel nervous when learning to drive, but try to stay relaxed and calm while behind the wheel. Taking deep breaths and reminding yourself to stay relaxed can help you to stay focused and confident on the road.

  • Stay safe: Above all, it is important to prioritise safety while learning to drive. Follow all traffic laws, be aware of your surroundings, and always wear your seatbelt. Your instructor will also provide guidance on safe driving practices and help you to develop good habits on the road.

Driving lessons in Pinner FAQ's

Is it better to have 2 hour driving lessons?

For most people learning to drive, 2 hour lessons are more beneficial than 1 hour lessons. There are many reasons for this which include: Reduced learning time overall (can reduce by a third) Reduced costs to the learner (2 hour sessions cost less as they are seen as getting a deal). Speak to your instructor in the Rated Driving app and they will do their best to cater to your requirements.

Is it quicker to pass in an automatic?

Learning in an automatic car has it benefits. The main one that learners like is the fact they do not need to master the clutch that comes in manual cars. As such, generally, there is less to learner so some learners may find it quicker to pass their driving test. And the quicker you pass your test, the less money you'll spend on driving lessons. Please note that automatic driving lessons normally cost more than manual driving lessons.

How many lessons does it take to drive?

According to the Driving Standards Agency (DSA) learner drivers need on average 44 hours of professional driving lessons to pass their driving test. To speed up learning, learners can always practice with a family member providing they are the correct age, the car is safe and legal to use and you have the correct car insurance.

Should I learn to drive in a manual or an automatic car?

It's a tough one. Many learners like to take their driving lessons in a manual car as they get the benefit of being able to driving manual and automatic cars, where as having an automatic driving licence means that you will only be allowed to drive automatic cars.

There is change coming though. As we turn to a greener future, electric cars are now becoming popular as they are far more friendly to the environment with the added bonus of them being automatic. The UK Government has said that all combustion engine cars will not be allowed to be sold from 2030 so learning automatic is actually not a bad choice.

Automatic driving lessons generally cost more than manual lessons but learners tend to need less lessons so the cost balances out by the time you pass your driving test.

Is an intensive driving course a good idea?

An intensive driving course can save you time and money as you might need fewer hours' training. There are some downsides though. With normal hourly driving lessons you get to experience many different driving and weather conditions which will allow you to learn how to drive and build confidence in all circumstances.

Normally, an intensive course is far more expensive than hourly lessons as you will be packing in all your lessons into 7-14 day window and taking your driving test at the end. It's a lot of pressure and not for the faint hearted but if you are a quick learner and keen to pass fast, intensive driving lessons could be the right path for you.
