Starting intensive driving lessons in Aldershot means getting to grips with a varied mix of roads in a short space of time, and the town offers an excellent environment for accelerated learning. From the moment you set off on your first lesson, you will quickly recognise that Aldershot's blend of residential streets, military zones and main routes provides all the experience you need to become a confident, test-ready driver. An intensive driving course lets you pass your test in days or weeks rather than months, making it the ideal choice for learners who want fast, focused results without the long gaps between lessons that can slow progress.
Your instructor will begin by building your confidence on quieter residential streets such as those around the Aldershot Park area, where you can practise fundamental skills like clutch control, steering and observation. As your ability develops, lessons progress to busier roads including Wellington Avenue, Queens Road and the Farnborough Road, where you will encounter roundabouts, traffic lights and higher speed limits. This concentrated progression ensures you cover all essential road types efficiently, with each session building directly on the last so that skills are reinforced and retained.
Aldershot is known for its rich military history and several notable landmarks that you will pass during your lessons. The Aldershot Military Town remains a significant part of the local landscape, and you may also drive near the Aldershot Observatory, one of the few remaining Victorian observatories in the country. The Wellington Statue is another local feature that marks the town's heritage, standing proudly as a reminder of Aldershot's long association with the armed forces.
Your test will be conducted from the Farnborough Driving Test Centre, which serves learners across the area. Your Rated Driving instructor will prepare you thoroughly on the actual test routes, ensuring you are familiar with the roads, junctions and potential hazards that examiners commonly use. You will practise manoeuvres in real test conditions, tackle the roads around Farnborough Gate and approach every scenario with the skills and confidence needed to pass first time.

Farnborough is the closest practical centre to Aldershot, around two miles north, and posts a pass rate slightly above the national average. Routes typically cover residential streets around the northern edge of town, a few dual carriageway sections, and quieter country lanes towards the Surrey border, so most local learners spend their final lessons working those areas.
Guildford sits around eight miles east and runs at a lower pass rate, though it can be a useful backup when Farnborough slots are hard to find. Chertsey is roughly fourteen miles north-east and offers a mid-range pass rate, making it a sensible third option if the closer centres are fully booked for weeks.
Aldershot has its own theory test centre right in town, making it the obvious first choice for local learners. Guildford is around eight miles east if Aldershot slots are tight, and Staines sits roughly seventeen miles north-east as a backup when the closer options are fully booked.
